I spent 23 years working as a graphic designer and illustrator, in San Francisco and the Washington, DC, area, expanding my creative services into photography about ten years ago. A love of food and cooking led first to editorial food photography, but eventually I found my passion in working with people subjects. After a few years of working as a self-taught semi-pro, I completed the Professional Photographer Program at the Washington School of Photography, graduating with honors in early 2013. I’ve explored several genres of portrait photography, but have found a particular skill in working with adult clients—especially mature women—who are in need of professional portraits, headshots or environmental portraits for business, branding, social media, and/or online dating. I’ve also recently started creating dog portraits, and look forward to seeing where that goes!
Before design school, I spent eight years as an international fashion model, which gave me an insight into being on the other side of the camera, skill in directing flattering poses, as well as the ability to advise on makeup, hair and wardrobe. My years as a graphic designer have honed my sense of color and eye for composition. Along with portrait photography, I provide services in digital photo correction, manipulation and restoration; setting up systems for organizing photo collections; and tutoring in Lightroom and Photoshop applications, and basic camera skills.
I’m an avid Crossfitter, weightlifter and day hiker (training for old age), a passionate cook, and a lover of premium ice cream and barbeque. Though I fantasize about living in the Pacific Northwest or Europe, I live in Maryland at the western outskirts of Washington, DC, with my wonderful husband Mark and our sweet red poodle Gemma, not far from most members of our loving families.
